Effect of Beet Juice on Cholinesterase Activity in Shallot Farmers with Pesticide Exposure in Jombang Area

According to Badan Pusat statistic (BPS) shallots need is increasing every year, for instance in East Java in 2019 it was increase 11.8 %. Unfortunately, most of shallot farmers weren’t obey the rules of applicable laws and regulations. Moreover, most of them weren’t use PPE standard that led to large amounts exposure of organophosphates in environment. Objective of study: to determine cholinesterase enzymes’ effect on shallot farmers who consume beet juice and who were not. Methods: This is experimental research with a pre-post design. Statistical analysis used paired T-test. The sample used were 32 blood samples of shallot farmers.
Result of study: Cholinesterase enzyme amount on shallot farmers blood before consume juice was in average of 48.43% (moderate) while after consume it was in average of 70.2% (mild). Conclusion: There is a significant difference in cholinesterase enzymes’’ amount in shallot farmers blood before consume of beetroot juice and after consume it
